The other guys
The Suns’ success has not been solely due to the Baynes and Rubio pickups, however (although they have been a huge part). The other guys on the roster deserve credit too for the way they’ve stepped up.
Jevon Carter has been a very pleasant surprise at the backup point guard spot, providing some timely playmaking and energy on the defensive end (he’ll often pick up the opposing ball handler 94 feet).
Kelly Oubre Jr. has been a nice secondary scoring option and his terrific play on the defensive end makes him a really good two-way threat. Tyler Johnson is another good scorer who seems to fit well in the “spark plug off the bench” role. Both Dario Saric and Frank Kaminsky have been solid, reliable stretch bigs.
And their rookie, Cam Johnson could still turn into a contributor a little bit down the line.
