Dallas Mavericks

79. Final. 122. 211. 138

The Dallas Mavericks have been a joy to watch this season and this game against the Memphis Grizzlies was no exception. They play such a beautiful style of basketball and if for some reason I ever decided to transfer my fandom, the Mavericks would be a lock as my new favorite NBA team.

I’ve seen two Mavericks’ games this season and this is the second time that a broadcaster has made the comment that Luka Doncic seems to be able to see plays before they develop. He’s to basketball what young Anakin Skywalker was to pod racing and it makes for such amazing team play. Doncic came just shy of his 5th season triple-double with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists.

The Mavs were on fire from the field in this game. They shot 52-97 from the field including 42 percent from three. The Mavs’ ball movement is what makes them such a dangerous opponent. In this game, Dallas had eight players with point totals in the double-digits and one more with nine. Seven of those guys hit three or more 3-point shots. If that’s not basketball at it’s best, then I don’t know what is.

Oh, and by the way, did I mention that all this happened without the talents of their Unicorn? Yeah, that’s right. Kristapz Porzingis sat out this game due to, “Injury recovery, left knee.” I see what you did there, Dallas. You avoided Clippers-Esque controversy by avoiding the term, “load management”. We all agree it’s the same thing though, right?
