San Antonio Spurs vs Boston Celtics

The San Antonio Spurs got off to a quick start against the Boston Celtics with a 7-0 run out of the gates but San Antonio’s defense was ultimately not up to the Celtics game on the night. I mean, when you’re leaving enough space for Kemba Walker to walk into open three-point attempts, that’s a pretty clear indication that something needs tweaking. You might even say, it’s the kind of defensive problem that might allow 90 points in three quarters…

But let’s talk about the Celtics. The luck of the Irish has not been with poor Gordon Hayward. We all know that he had that terrible injury two seasons ago in the first game of the season which was also his first game in a Celtics uniform.

Hayward has been a big factor in the Celtics’ impressive 7-1 start averaging almost 19 points on 56 percent shooting from the field. Losing Hayward to a fractured left hand is going to be an issue for the Celtics.

Also, what is with the hand fractures early in this season? Curry, Lowry and now Hayward? So strange.

My favorite basketball conversation partner has a theory in Hayward’s case at least. It has to do with Isiah Thomas playing injured and a curse that apparently Hayward is feeling the full force of. I mean… it’s a theory… I guess. If you believe in that kind of thing maybe when Hayward gets back they need to put a four-leaf clover on his shorts where currently there is a regular shamrock.
