4. Kemba Walker, Boston Celtics
It could be easy to put any of the Boston Celtics lineup in here after their superb start to the season. Boasting a 9-1 record, the Celtics have the perfect view from the top of the Eastern Conference and flew under everybody’s radar to start their campaign.
It can not be underestimated the influence that their main offseason acquisition, Kemba Walker, has made on the Celtics roster.
The Kyrie Irving experiment in Boston was not a successful one so when Uncle Drew decided to move to Brooklyn, the Celtics sought after Walker to fill the spot at point guard this season.
Walker has gone from being the only shining light on the Hornets roster to a team filled with emerging stars such as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. It could have been easy for Walker to disappear into the background slightly in such circumstances, not needing to carry the team on his back anymore.
But Walker had other plans, showing that he can be a superstar no matter where he plays.
Through their fascinating 9-1 start, Walker has averaged 25 points per game which ranks inside the top 5 for all point guards in the NBA. Shooting a healthy 44 percent from 3-point land has also added another reliable dimension to the Celtics offensive unit.
Kemba also averages 5.1 rebounds per game, good enough place inside the Top 10 in that category amongst point guards in the NBA.
But most impressive is the way he has moved the ball from the point guard position. Walker adds 4.6 assists per game against an average of only two turnovers per game. This shows how good Walker is at bringing his teammates into the game also, a major factor in the Celtics team.
Walker is making a difference in his new Boston jersey and is a major reason why the Celtics have started the season as the best team in the East.
