1. Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves
No. 1 draft picks are always set high expectations and for Andrew Wiggins, this was no different. The basketball world has been waiting for a breakout year from Wiggins and 2019-20 could very well be his calling.
Through the opening part of this season, Wiggins has somewhat been playing in the shadow of Karl-Anthony Towns who has been heavily discussed as an early-season MVP fancy. The pair have helped the Timberwolves off to a 7-4 start and currently sit 6th in the West Conference.
But over the past couple of weeks, in particular, Wiggins has started to find his feet.
The Timberwolves forward has strung together an impressive six-game streak where he has amassed 25 points or more in each game. Wiggins has the 11th most points in the league through the early portion of the season, shooting an impressive 48 percent from the field.
Coming off two fairly disappointing campaigns through 2017 and 2018, Wiggins is finally starting to show the signs that everyone has been waiting for.
Wiggins has also been contributing in other facets of the game through their first 11 games.
He is averaging a career-high five rebounds and 3.6 assists to accompany his points production on offense, helping to improve his team in more ways than one. Just as importantly, Wiggins is averaging a career-low 1.5 turnovers per game which show improvements and developments in his game.
Hopefully, Wiggins can continue to produce and the 2019-20 season can be the breakout season that he lives up to the No. 1 draft pick hype.
