4. Coby White, Chicago Bulls
Coby White has been incredibly streaky to start his rookie campaign. He’s had some incredible games where he’s had it all going, making 3’s, playmaking and playing defense and he’s had some other games that were not so great.
For example, White most recently had a 26 point, five-rebound, three-assist, three-steal game against the Bucks in which he followed that up with a seven-point, nine-rebound, three-assist game against the Nets. This has resulted in averages of, 13.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from 2, 31 percent from 3 and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
This level of inconsistency doesn’t scream rookie of the year. However, if he could put together a two or three month stretch of really good basketball, that could vault him to the top of the Rookie of the Year conversation.
