With Kemba Walker’s future unknown at this time, we have to wonder what’s next for the Boston Celtics
Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker left the court with what appeared to be a gruesome head injury. Although he left the hospital his future status is unknown at the present time. Even if it’s for a couple of games, this is not what Celtics fans wanted to hear.
Now, with two of their core pieces out for what could be out for a lengthy time – Gordon Hayward is currently nursing a hand injury, and is weeks away from a return – things can either be great looking ahead or it could spell the beginning to a horrific slump in Boston.
On the bright side, the Celtics have an extremely deep, exciting bench filled with ready to play and contribute point guards behind Kemba such as Marcus Smart and Carsen Edwards. Did I mention the aforementioned are pretty darn good?
That’s always a major bonus to have when you’re one of the league’s best teams plus you get an even greater chance to see what your young players are capable of battling when adversity strikes at unpleasant times. Not to mention the growth Jaylen Brown has shown and the superstar poise of Jayson Tatum. You can expect some serious ball-handling duties for the two versatile young stars moving forward as well which will definitely be fun to watch.
Currently sitting in the third spot behind the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics have time to figure out who the next floor general will be but I see no reason why they should drop off even a little with this recent turn of events.
It shouldn’t be long before Kemba Walker returns to leading this team toward playoff and championship contention. Wishing Kemba a speedy recovery.
