NBA Sunday Social: LeBron James and Ben Simmons make history
By Alex Mcewen
Sir Charles In Charge presents the first edition of NBA Sunday Social. This week features milestones for LeBron, Ben Simmons, and much more.
Welcome to the inaugural edition of NBA Sunday Social. Each week this column will take the reader on a journey across social media, compiling the best social highlights in one location. Some tweets will be quirky, others will be serious, and some posts will contain game highlights. The variety will change weekly, depending on what the web delivers.
One aspect is certain each week; this column will be fresh, lively, and unique. With that, let’s jump into the posts from the week of November 18-23:
The thought process behind drafting pure potential
Some memes are purely meant to be funny, while others are so hilarious due to the fact they are so factual. The above post falls into the latter category.
Paul George is very clutch
Paul George is a very special basketball player. PG is in the prime of his career. He was unable to advance beyond the first round in his final two years in Indiana and his only two seasons in Oklahoma City, although it is early that trend seems likely to end this year for PG and the Clippers.
The Spurs are the best at being the Spurs
Tim Duncan remains a legend.
Life comes at you fast
The NBA is a sum of constantly moving parts. In this instance, Alec Burks thought de-committing from the Thunder would put him in a better position to compete for a championship. As it turns out, Burks will ultimately play for a lottery team after all.
These are the important post-game questions
Luka Doncic will answer a lot of questions during post-game interviews throughout the 2019-20 campaign. He may not provide a better response than the above quote.
LeBron Makes History, Again
Not knocking LeBron, this is a phenomenal accomplishment that should be celebrated. With that said, it took him 17 years to accomplish such a feat, Russell Westbrook will accomplish the same feat later this season when he posts a triple-double versus the Thunder, it will have taken Westbrook only 12 years to string together a TD versus all 30 squads.
Ben Simmons Crosses a Career Milestone
Hitting 3’s is second nature in today’s NBA. However, prior to Wednesday night, the Sixers All-Star guard had never connected on an NBA trey.
Visual proof
Just in case reading about Simmons’ trey wasn’t enough, the above tweet includes a clip of the monumental moment.
Happy Anniversary Ernie Johnson

Ernie Johnson is not only one of the best TV personalities in the NBA; he is one of the best in the entire business. Anytime Johnson is being celebrated, the TNT legend deserves every bit of the recognition.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Carmelo Anthony
Last week, when Carmelo Anthony signed with the Blazers, Sir Charles in Charge took a look at the signing. Thus far, Melo’s tenure with the Blazers seems to be going swell.
A little yoga anyone?

The NBA on TNT crew has helped promote Small Business Saturday for multiple years now. All you need to know is the above clip includes the entire cast participating in goat yoga. Anytime Shaq and Charles Barkley, are in a room filled with goats, hilarity will ensue. Don’t believe me? If you missed it on Thursday, relive the moment with the above clip.
Eerie coincidence for Boston

Thankfully Kemba Walker’s injury was less severe as the first-year Celtic only suffered concussion-like symptoms. Still a serious injury, but a much better outcome than what could have happened to the All-Star guard.
An interesting question to ponder?
This is one of the most thought-provoking questions I have ever seen on social media, from a sports standpoint. Extending this conversation further than the Thunder, what if you could attend any NBA game in the history of the league, what game would you choose? Mention it in the comments section below.
An update from the Sixers-Heat game
This game was hyped as the Jimmy Butler revenge game. Butler did not perform well as the Heat’s newest forward scored a seldom 11-points on 4-13 shooting. Instead, this match served as Josh Richardson’s revenge party.
The former Edmond Santa Fe guard balled out versus the only other team he has ever known. Richardson posted season highs for both points, 32 and field goals made with 11.
SPICY P!
When Kawhi Leonard departed the Raptors, many wrote the defending NBA Champion off for dead. Well, the NBA’s reigning Most Improved Player Pascal Siakam has other ideas. Mr. Spicy P currently has the Raptors tied for second in the East with a crisp record of 11-4.
LaVine for the Win!
https://twitter.com/NBAonTNT/status/1198429191739305985?s=20
During the preseason, some analysts predicted Zach LaVine would lead the NBA in scoring. That likely will not happen. Lavine is currently scoring 21.2 points per game. Although he is one of 29 players scoring at least 20 points per game, Lavine’s average ranks 25th in the association.
Nonetheless, LaVine is on pace for his best season as a pro. Perhaps if things fall into place, LaVine can position the Bulls to make the post-season, resulting in his first career playoff appearance.
Thank you for joining the Sunday Social this week. Check back next Sunday for another social recap of the week in the always interesting NBA.
