Luka Doncic is a legitimate MVP candidate

Safe to say that Luke Doncic is incredible. To start his sophomore campaign Luka is nearly averaging a 30-point triple-double. If he was able to actually average 30-10-10 for the entire season he would only be the third player to ever do it. The other two are Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook.

Luka is also leading this relatively average Dallas Mavericks team to a respectable 11-5 record and a 4-seed in the West just one month into the season. I personally think that if Luka can sustain both these incredible numbers to go along with an excellent team record, he will be a lock to win the 2020 MVP award in just his second NBA season.

However, these numbers are likely to slip a bit. In the second half of Luka’s rookie campaign, his numbers were significantly worse than the first half. This may have had to do with him hitting the hypothetical “rookie wall” but it could also have been due to him starting out hot and eventually regressing to the mean.
