NBA: The return of Melo and 4 other feel-good stories of the season thus far

Isaiah Thomas is slowly finding his form
As a short king myself, I’ve always had a soft spot for IT. This man is an elite scorer, a great playmaker and most of all an excellent teammate. Isaiah Thomas averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game during his last season in Boston. Those are incredible numbers and he deserved to get paid.
However, at the end of that season, Thomas suffered a hip injury and hasn’t been the same since. It isn’t likely that Thomas will ever get that max contract that he deserves but so far this season he is playing like a solid starting point guard again.
IT is averaging 12 points and 5.3 assists per game to start this season and he has been slowly getting better and better with each game. It’s likely that Thomas will never get that five-year $180 million-plus that he was expecting just a few years ago, but it would be nice if he could just get a solid contact other than the veterans minimum.
Isaiah Thomas is 30 years old but if he is able to continually improve this season and eventually be averaging something like 18 points and six assists per game, he could likely extend his career for another 4-5 years and make up for some of that money he lost.
