At the quarter mark of the 2019-20 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks look like the class of the league

At this point, most NBA teams have arrived at the first quarter mark of the 2019-20 season. While only 20 games are still very much a “small” sample size, there are plenty of observations and trends that we can take away at this point.

For instance, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks appear to be a good deal better than any of the other teams in the NBA. At least right now. You could make a case that the LA Clippers or Philadelphia 76ers are the more talented teams in their respective conferences, but right now the Bucks and Lakers are both playing at an absurd level.

Led by their two NBA MVP candidates, Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James, the Bucks and Lakers appear to be on a collision course come June. Of course, a lot can change between now and the start of the playoffs, but these two teams appear to be the cream of the crop in the league.

How does the rest of the NBA landscape shake out through the first quarter? Here are our NBA Power Rankings through the first 20, or so, games of the season.
