New Orleans Pelicans: A healthy Zion
It doesn’t seem like anyone really knows when Zion Williamson is going to be ready to play and the Pelicans certainly won’t rush him. At this point it’s not even about getting him back for the regular season, they just have to make sure they get him healthy for the long term.
With Brandon Ingram having a career year, a lucrative return for a potential Jrue Holiday trade, and a high volume of lottery balls coming their way this summer, there is a lot to be excited about in New Orleans. Better days are ahead, but the Pelicans will need to proceed with caution while the future of their franchise and possibly the entire league rehabs that knee.
New York Knicks: A roster that makes reasonable sense
Obviously can’t really address this until the offseason, but I don’t think putting together a reasonable roster is too far fetched, is it? RJ Barrett looks the part of a potential All-Star, but they absolutely must do a better job of building this team at virtually every other spot.
I’m not a General Manager (although I’ve put together some great 2K clubs over the years), but a good place to start would probably be not signing every mid-level power forward in the league and firing your coach when he can’t make it work. The inability of this front office to get out of their own way has shut down any possibility of getting high-level free agents over the years and something has to change. Next summer is a big one for them.
