Houston Rockets: Russell Westbrook‘s shots to go in sometimes
Originally I had this as “Russell Westbrook stops shooting so many 3-pointers”, but we’re well past that. At this point, if you’re a Houston Rockets fan, you just have to accept that Westbrook is going to take a lot of bad shots and hope that enough of them go in so the defense has to come to guard him.
At a shade under 23 percent per Basketball Reference, Westbrook is shooting the worst 3-point percentage of his career while putting up the second most attempts per game (5.1) of his career. If that number doesn’t come up pretty significantly before the playoffs, opposing defenses will have the option to destroy the Rockets’ spacing and not guard him out on the perimeter.
It’s a big year for the Rockets and if Westbrook can’t make a jumper in the playoffs it could spell another disappointing postseason for this group.
Indiana Pacers: All-Star Oladipo
It sounds like Victor Oladipo still isn’t very close to getting back on the floor as he is still recovering from the knee injury he suffered last season. The Indiana Pacers won’t rush him back and nor should they with how well they’ve been playing so far this year.
The Bucks look like they are going to run away with the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but spots 2-6 seem to change on a daily basis. If the Pacers can stay in that race and bring back a fully healthy version of the former All-Star guard then they’ll be as good as any of the teams they’re competing with for seeding at the top of the conference.
