Detroit Pistons: Blake Griffin could be shut down due to knee injury

Blake Griffin is reportedly considering season-ending knee surgery. This would be a big blow to the Detroit Pistons if he ultimately decides to end his season
Over the past several years, Blake Griffin was a human highlight reel with all of his amazing dunks he pulled off throughout his career, but in recent years he hasn’t been the same due to some of the nagging injuries he has encountered.
The Detroit Pistons were aware of the injuries he had faced before he signed with them, but now they have to deal with another setback if Griffin undergoes season-ending surgery. Griffin was coming off one of his best years last season averaging a career-high in 24.5 points per game.
Griffin will see a specialist in Los Angeles this week, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes. Blake is averaging 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 18 games this season and was off to a poor start to his 2019-20 campaign. A report from the Detroit Free Press says that this is the same issue he had dealt with going back to his last surgery.
The Pistons have struggled mightily this season and have a record of 13-24 in 37 games. There have been a few bright spots for the Pistons as Derrick Rose has been playing lights out for them and is proving to the league that he could still be the player he once was with the Chicago Bulls.
Andre Drummond is also having a decent year posting 17.4 points and 15.9 rebounds in 35 games. Drummond would love to have his teammate playing with him, but if Griffin is out, look for Drummond pick up the slack on both sides of the ball.
Obviously, with Griffin’s injury, the Pistons could fall in the East standings and miss out on the playoffs once again. Even with Griffin’s history with injuries, he could still be a threat with his scoring and defensive play when he comes back healthy.
If Blake undergoes surgery, many Pistons fans want to know who will step up for the team. Only time will tell of how things will brew out in the Motor City and how they can turn their season around.
