Andre Iguodala, Memphis Grizzlies
LA Clippers receives: Andre Iguodala
Memphis Grizzlies receives: Maurice Harkless, Moritz Wagner and the Detroit Pistons 2021 second-round pick via the Los Angeles Clippers
Washington Wizards receives: Jerome Robinson
A little three-team trade to finish it off.
In order to trade for Andre Iguodala you need to find a team that is A, in championship contention and B, has a player on a large enough expiring contract that isn’t a key part of their rotation. This is incredibly difficult to find. Thus, a third team is almost always needed to facilitate a trade for Iguodala.
This trade appears to work for all parties. The Wizards get another young player in exchange for a guy who isn’t likely apart of their plans. The Grizzlies get an expiring contract in Mo Harkless, a young piece in Mo Wagner and a 2nd round pick which is likely the best they’ll do for Iguodala’s expiring contract.
And finally, the Clippers get the man himself, Andre Iguodala who is an upgrade from Harkless in terms of his experience, basketball IQ and a championship pedigree.
