NBA: Midterm reports for first-year head coaches
By John Nassif
Mike Miller, New York Knicks
At least the New York Knicks have won a few games, right? Mike Miller’s sample size is still too small after taking over for Fizdale to gauge any trends on his specific impact. We know he has coaching acumen as he was named G-League coach of the year in 2018.
If the Knicks can string together a few wins in the second half of the season, he may just get a chance to right the ship on the begrudging Knicks franchise. Until then, however unfair it may be, the Knicks performance up to this point will still be credited to Miller.
The Knicks have been better with Miller leading the way, however. New York still has the third-worst record in the NBA.
Good Stat: Rebounding – 1st in Offensive Rebounding Percentage at 25.0%
Bad Stat: Shooting AND Fouls – Last in True Shooting Percentage at 52.3% and Most Fouls per Game at 22.9
