Obtain a solid point guard who has a rapport with Karl-Anthony Towns

This assessment shines brightly in alliance with reports of the team pursuing the addition of D’Angelo Russell to their roster in hopes of schematically and emotionally aligning with Towns’ on-court desires.

Russell is a pick-and-roll maestro that could align perfectly with Towns in the halfcourt and do solid damage with his ability as a passer and mid-range/long ball shooter. The dilemma for the Wolves is their lack of a desire to part ways with both Andrew Wiggins and Robert Covington to make the deal work with the Golden State Warriors who currently still have Russell on their roster.

Because of this, there’s a strong chance the deal probably won’t be executed this season or at all for Russell to be on the roster. The next agenda should then be to obtain a lead guard who could do damage with Towns in the pick-and-roll as either a passer or downfield dynamic athlete which Dennis Smith Jr. could offer for the team.

Smith Jr. is currently laying in the cut known as the New York Knicks a year removed from a promising rookie season with the Dallas Mavericks. His skill sets are currently being ignored and wasted with a franchise determined to go nowhere fast. On the Timberwolves, DSJ has the chance to blossom into a dynamic player at the lead guard position who could propel the Timberwolves halfcourt offense to a bit higher heights.
