Minnesota Timberwolves: 4 steps to reemerge as playoff contenders
Build around Karl-Anthony Towns and Jarrett Culver
What Towns brings to the table as a Modern-day NBA big man is unquestioned. He’s a 7-foot center who can stretch the floor, score on the block, and is a good to great rim protector when he chooses to be on the defensive end.
The upside of Culver though as the team’s two-guard is immense and unheralded league-wide. Although he’s averaging just nearly 10 points per game, the rookie from Texas Tech has had 11 consecutive double-digit point outputs and even scored a season-high 26 points on 8-16 shooting versus one of the best defensive teams in the league in the Toronto Raptors.
The rookie has the game of a merge between DeMar DeRozan with his mid-range ability and the versatility of Khris Middleton in his ability to get his points on the move and in an array of halfcourt spots. The Wolves have a solid product at their hands to build around in their backcourt and need to involve in their rebuilding plan if they hope to get back into the promised land of the postseason.
