Minnesota Timberwolves: 4 steps to reemerge as playoff contenders
Move on from Ryan Saunders
The move for Ryan Saunders to be their head coach a year and a half ago seemed like an appeasement hire to further coddle and pet the egos of the team’s two best players in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.
A year and a half later, the utter disbelief that the guy was given the gig is starting to come into fruition with the amount of questionable losing skids the team has gone on even before Wiggins and Towns went out with injuries. Saunders is out of his league as a head coach for this team and the Wolves need a face with experience and purpose that can get the team to a much higher level than they are right now.
Options such as Mark Jackson and Mike D’Antoni when he’s ultimately released from Houston this year will be available, but an individual with skins on the wall as a head coach to push this team to where they need to go in this stage of development is key. This and also a headman who can maximize the talent and ability of Towns and others on the floor.
