76ers, Blazers make a blockbuster deal

This would be an extremely interesting challenge trade for both sides.

It is quite clear that the Sixers lack perimeter shot creation, so CJ McCollum gives them help in that regard. This would address Philly’s struggles in the late-game offense. He also is an elite off-ball threat with his shooting and movement by running off screens and cutting. Horford has already voiced his frustrations this season, and at age 33 his contract does not look particularly attractive.

Portland needs a makeover. Even with all of their injuries and the fact that they made the Western Conference Finals last year, I believe that it is only downhill from here with the Lillard/McCollum pairing. Horford gives them a stabilizing presence in the frontcourt.

Horford’s versatility would help Portland immensely because he could play at the same time as either Jusuf Nurkic or Zach Collins depending on the lineup. This move would also allow the Blazers to see what they have in Anfernee Simons when he gets starter’s minutes.
