NBA Trade Rumors: Clint Capela to Hawks; Heat eyeing Gallinari?
NBA Trade Rumors: Taking a closer look at the latest whispers as it pertains to the trade deadline
With the NBA Trade Deadline just a few days away, let’s take a look at a few of the most recent whispers making the rounds in the rumor mill.
Rockets shopping Capela
We begin with a report that the Houston Rockets are shopping Clint Capela, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Woj notes that the Rockets are seeking a wing and a replacement center in exchange for Capela as the trade deadline approaches.

One team that has been consistently connected to Capela in trade rumors has been the Atlanta Hawks. Capela is only 25 years old but comes with a somewhat expensive contract. He’s scheduled to be on the books for the next three seasons, after this year, and will make between $18 and $20 million in each of those seasons.
Miami is interested in Danilo Gallinari
According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Miami Heat are among the teams that have expressed interest in Danilo Gallinari, the sharpshooter who is on an expiring contract. It’ll be interesting to see what the Heat would be willing to part ways with, but at this point, it would be extremely surprising to see they trade away Goran Dragic, Justise Winslow (who remains sidelined with a back injury), Kendrick Nunn or Tyler Herro ahead of the deadline.
Would a first-round pick and matching salary (with the help of a third team) be enough? And would the Heat want to part ways with a pick for Gallo?
Knicks set on holding on to Marcus Morris
Per Zach Lowe, the New York Knicks don’t look like a team that is willing to unload Marcus Morris who is garnering plenty of interest from playoff contenders – including the LA Clippers.
"The problem has been finding anyone worth that package. Sources say the Knicks seem hell-bent on keeping Marcus Morris Sr. — someone the Clippers coveted in free agency."
Of course, this can all change in a blink of an eye if the right deal presents itself. But this is very on-brand for the Knicks recently. New York isn’t going to sell just because the market is dictating them to.
Lakers tested the market for Kyle Kuzma
The Los Angeles Lakers also checked in on the market for Kyle Kuzma, as the team continues to search for help in the backcourt. Honestly, I’d be quite intrigued to see what the possible returns would be for Kuzma. He’s a solid young player, but perhaps might not be what many projected him out to be after an impressive first season.
Wolves still chasing D’Angelo Russell
This is perhaps the worst-kept secret in the NBA right now. The Minnesota Timberwolves covet Russell and have since the summer. Who knows if they’ll be able to land him at the NBA Trade Deadline, but there’s been a ton of smoke recently.
"[via ESPN]The Wolves are still in hot pursuit of D’Angelo Russell, sources say. Two months ago, it looked as if any Russell discussion — if the Warriors had interest in one — would wait until the offseason, but Minnesota has not given up hope of acquiring him now, sources say."
