NBA Trade Rumors: 8 bold predictions for deadline day
The Pelicans will stand pat, not move Jrue Holiday or J.J. Redick
The New Orleans Pelicans might be five games out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but I can’t help but feel like this team will want to retain both Jrue Holiday and J.J. Redick for a potential second-half playoff push as Zion Williamson gets more and more comfortable as an NBA player.
Whether that’s the right decision or not is an entirely different discussion. Short of the Pelicans getting an offer that will blow them away, I’m not sure it makes sense for them to move either one of these vets.
New Orleans could always circle back and elect to move Holiday and/or Redick in the summer if they have a change of mind. The injury to Zion really threw off this season, and I’m sure management wants to see this roster at 100 percent. Moving Holiday and/or Redick would be throwing in the towel that the team never even saw come to fruition.
