Andre Drummond (traded to Cleveland)

It’s tough to say that a player on the verge of a huge contract extension in free agency (or $28 million next season if he opts in) is a loser after what transpired at the NBA Trade Deadline. However, making the move from Detroit to Cleveland can’t be great. And this is not a shot at the city, but more so at the organization.

The Cleveland Cavaliers still have plenty of unresolved issues on their roster and throwing Andre Drummond to a frontcourt that also features Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson (assuming he doesn’t get bought out over the next couple of weeks) is not exactly the trend that the NBA is heading towards.

Who knows what this summer holds for Drummond and the Cavs, or if this is nothing more than just a rental, but there’s no question that he’s at a bit of a crossroad in his NBA career. Hopefully, he can find a home in Cleveland and that the team hopes to the big man beyond the second half of this season. Both deserve a happy ending in all this. I’m not sure one is on the horizon, however.
