Deadline moves: Acquired Andre Drummond, failed to move Kevin Love and/or Tristan Thompson

For a few months now, there had been plenty of eyes on the Cavs. They had two prime trade assets and the belief was that they’d, at the very least, try to trade one or both of them at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline. In the end, instead of moving Love and/or Thompson, the Cavs ended up traded FOR another big man, Andre Drummond.

Even though the price was surprisingly low – the Cavs dealt John Henson, Brandon Knight, and a second-round pick for Drummond – it’s still a decision that doesn’t really make much sense. Are the Cavs going to cut their losses with Love and Thompson in the summer, and then try to re-sign Drummond to a big contract?

Are they going to try and convince Love to stay and embrace playing next to Drummond? I honestly don’t know what the next move for the Cavs is. At the very least, they will have plenty of options heading into the summer. However, I can’t help but feel like this deadline day was a bit of a disappointment considering the team failed to sell off Love and Thompson.

Also, good luck in the summer figuring this all out.
