Deadline moves: Traded Andre Drummond, failed to get any value

Simply put, the Detroit Pistons are losers because there simply wasn’t a market for Andre Drummond. It wasn’t necessarily a bad move that the team elected to move him; they had to, especially if they had any feeling he was going to opt into the $28 million for next season.

The team clearly wanted to move on from Drummond and his time with the team was clearly coming to an end. I want to make this clear: the team’s decision to trade Drummond is not the mistake, it’s the unfortunate situation that there was simply no market for the big man that is the reason why the Pistons have come away looking like losers.

The Pistons were only able to come away with Brandon Knight, John Henson, and a second-round pick. For a player as talented as Drummond is, even if his counting stats can sometimes be considered fool’s gold, that is an epic loss.
