6. Andre Drummond, Cleveland Cavaliers
Andre Drummond is a double-double machine. For his career, Drummond is averaging, 14.4 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game. In the history of the game, Drummond’s average of 13.8 rebounds per game is seventh all-time. He is tied second all-time in NBA history with Dennis Rodman in offensive rebounding with 4.8 per game and second in NBA history in defensive rebounds per game with 9.1.
In an era where big men are not valued the way they once were, Drummond plays with an old school mentality. While his offense has gotten better over the years, his greatest value will always be his defense and rebounding.
5. Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics
Yes, he is one of the best floppers in the NBA, but when it comes to the defense he gives it his all. Smart can guard the 3 through 1. He always competes on the defensive end, never taking a play off. Some of the things he does on the floor won’t show up on the stat sheet.
On February 9, Smart was able to get the winning steal against the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 8. 2 seconds to go in the game. Against most guards, Gilgeous-Alexander would’ve been able to get a shot up, but against Smart, you have to be careful with the ball.
