In addition to Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell has also tested positive for COVID-19. He was the only other Utah Jazz player to test positive last night.

In a statement released by the Utah Jazz, only one other member of the team has tested positive for COVID-19 after it was known that Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus Wednesday night.

While this is certainly good news considering the tone last night, there are still plenty of precautionary measures that will be in place. Not to mention that there are still two players that have the virus. According to Shams Charania, the other Jazz player to test positive for the virus is Donovan Mitchell.

The hope is that they have a speedy recovery in the coming weeks but, despite what the public opinion may be for 20-something-year-olds contracting the virus, this is not something to take lightly.

The NBA suspended the season effective immediately following the news that Gobert had tested positive (per Shams) for the virus Wednesday night. (Woj and Shams had this simultaneously on Twitter).

In response, the Jazz was reportedly immediately tested for the virus.

While only one other player tested positive for the virus, there are still plenty of unknowns out there for the league and the sports world as a whole. In the coming days, the expectation is that the sports world will come to a collective halt; the NBA already has.

What comes next isn’t clear. This is uncharted waters for the league and sports in general. However, at least for the next few weeks – and probably longer- the expectation is that this NBA season will remain on hold.

As it stands, it’s important to note that the league has not canceled the season – yet. The season is suspended indefinitely, and the league will use the time off to try and come to a conclusion on what steps to take next.

We are in unprecedented territory here, and right now the important factor is good health for the players, team/arena employees, and the fans. That should be the No. 1 priority right now.
