Philadelphia 76ers: Compiling the best all-time starting 5 in team history
Point Guard: Ben Simmons
Don’t get it confused. I don’t think Ben Simmons is the best point guard in Philadelphia 76ers history. That title belongs to four-time All-Star and Hall of Famer Maurice Cheeks. But there’s no denying that at 6-foot-10 Ben Simmons gives the Philadelphia 76ers the best chance to compete against all-time teams that would include oversized point guards like Magic Johnson of the Lakers or Penny Hardaway of the Orlando Magic.
This might also be the only scenario that Ben Simmons’ inability to shoot the basketball wouldn’t be an issue. With three scoring champions on the starting five, Ben can concentrate on facilitating, playing defense and driving to the paint for easy buckets when the flow of the game requires him to inject himself into the offense.
With a team full of legends, notorious for not sugar coating what needs to be accomplished on the floor, Ben Simmons may finally take his game to the next level.
Disagree with my list? Think leaving Charles Barkley out of the mix was disrespectful? Create your all-time five and send it to me in the comments section or via Twitter. Let’s see who really has the all-time squad.
