10. Anthony Bennett, Cleveland Cavaliers (2013)
NBA career stats: 4.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 39%FG
Anthony Bennett checking in at No. 10 should come as a surprise to no one. In what was considered one of the weakest drafts in recent history, the Cleveland Cavaliers made a “reach” of a pick with their No. 1 overall selection in taking Bennett out of UNLV.
Coming out of college, Bennett averaged 16 points and eight rebounds on 53 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. While those are certainly solid numbers, I’m not sure this is the type of player (considering production) that you would associate with being the No. 1 overall pick in any draft.
Nevertheless, the Cavs took the chance on Bennett and it simply didn’t pan out. Bennett fell out of the NBA and hasn’t been on an active roster since the 2016-17 season. Even though he’s just 27 years old, there’s hope he could make his way back into the NBA but he will never live up to the player that the Cavs thought they were getting in 2013.
