5. Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves (2015)

NBA career stats: 22.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 53%FG, 39%3PT

When Karl-Anthony Towns was drafted in 2015, there weren’t any real concerns about whether the Minnesota Timberwolves were making the right decision. KAT wasn’t a huge big production player at Kentuck – in fact, he only averaged 10 points and seven rebounds during his freshman season.

However, in pre-draft workouts, it was clear that KAT was going to be a special player. And not much has changed since. Before the season was halted, KAT was on pace for the best statistical season of his career, averaging 26 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists on 51 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.

KAT is not a perfect player by any means and still isn’t a great defender, but he’s been worth every penny that the Wolves have paid him. In the right defensive system, with a more defensive-minded frontcourt mate, KAT will continue to be one of the most dominant forwards in the NBA.
