Utah Jazz players Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert have been cleared from COVID-19; Christian Wood was cleared earlier this week.
If you’re looking for a sliver of good news as the sports world continues to remain in a worldwide hiatus, look no further than what has been reported over the last couple of days in the NBA in regards to its players that tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier this week, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Christian Wood had been ‘cleared’ from the virus. He tested positive for the virus roughly two weeks ago.
Adding to the positive news, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix sent out in a tweet that both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, who tested positive nearly two weeks ago, had also been cleared from the virus.

Considering everything that is happening around the league, this has to be considered a positive development. One of the first steps in the league possibly even thinking about returning, in some form or fashion, was the players who tested positive for the virus getting clearance from their medical professionals.
Now that we’re beginning to see that, it means there’s at least an outside chance that the NBA could finish the season at some point during the summer.
The specifics of what nee to happen next aren’t exactly clear, and playing the rest of the season might not look like we’re used to, but this is a great, positive development.
And it’s not even entirely just from a basketball perspective. You can’t help but feel great for all three players and their families. In a time where it had to be, at least to a certain extent, frightening, to know that they are now in the clear from COVID-19 is a huge win.
Again, this is just one step. It’s going to take many more for the NBA to begin playing basketball again. However, it’s great to hear some good news in the current climate that we’re living in.
