LaMarcus Aldridge doesn’t have the luxury of a player option like DeMar DeRozan heading into the 2020 NBA offseason, but he’s another big name that could certainly be on the move if the Spurs elect to move in a different direction.

While Aldridge has been productive during his time with the Spurs, his combination with DeRozan simply hasn’t been as successful as Gregg Popovich and the organization had hoped. Coming off a season in which he’s averaging 19 points and seven rebounds per game on 49 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range, you’d have to think that there will be a team out there willing to take a one-year gamble on an accomplished player like Aldridge.

The fact that he will be an expiring contract next season will also make him a player many teams will be willing to take on. Plus, he likely will be cheap on the trade market. He could probably be had for a late first-round draft pick and an expiring contract.

Assuming that the Spurs are ready for a rebuild, after missing the playoffs for the first time in over two decades, Aldridge will likely be one of the first players to go.
