Bucks don’t win a championship; Giannis is one season closer to free agency

Giannis Antetokounmpo can talk about loyalty all he wants, but many “smaller-market” teams have been burned time and time again in the past. And the growing belief is that the one real way the Milwaukee Bucks can sell themselves to Giannis is by winning an NBA Championship before he hits the open free agent market in 2021.

With the way the Bucks’ season was trending before the implementation of the hiatus, there was a high probability that they were going to find themselves in the NBA Finals, at least. And with a puncher’s chance against one of the Los Angeles teams (likely) once they got there would’ve been extremely fascinating to watch unfold.

However, should the season be canceled, the Bucks would lose a great chance at trying to solidify their place in Giannis’ heart heading into the offseason. Now, they might only have one shot at winning that elusive championship before Giannis hits free agency.
