Sixers will have to make a premature decision on Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid

Believe it or not, but there’s a good chance that the Philadelphia 76ers could’ve benefited from a playoff run. Despite all the criticism that the team received over the course of the first two-thirds of the regular season, I’m sure management would’ve liked to see how this team performed when it mattered most.

Assuming that Ben Simmons would’ve rejoined the team when healthy (and hopefully that would’ve happened sooner rather than later) we would’ve gotten a good look at whether this team could work moving forward.

Plenty has been made of the bad fit that Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are on the team, but we haven’t seen enough of a sample size of them together in the playoffs to really make that assumption.

Entering this year’s postseason, I’m not sure any of the higher-seeded teams would’ve wanted anything to do with the Sixers. It’s a shame we might not get to see it. And if the Sixers decide to move one of them in the offseason, not having a playoff sample from this season won’t make it any easier.
