Clippers lose one year of Kawhi Leonard

The LA Clippers are another team that should be absolutely gutted by the cancelation of the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season. Not only were the Clippers considered by many one of the favorites to come out of the Western Conference this season, but also one of the heavy favorites to win the NBA Finals altogether.

Losing one season of Kawhi Leonard‘s three-year contract isn’t a great thing, considering that there’s no guarantee that he’ll re-sign when his contract is up or if he opts out of the final year of his contract after the 2020-21 season.

The Clippers’ entire goal heading into 2019-20 revolved around the playoffs and winning a championship. They embraced it with their load management philosophy and with the roster that they’ve built around Kawhi and Paul George. Though, that’s kind of difficult to do when there’s no real end to the 2019-20 season.
