Indiana Pacers: Compiling an all-time starting 5
Point guard: Mark Jackson
Mark Jackson went through two stints and six seasons with the Pacers, but he was the point guard at a time where the Pacers were at their best. Teamed up with Reggie Miller in the backcourt, Jackson was able to put on a passing display that has rarely ever been seen in Pacers’ history.
The Pacers traded for Jackson from the LA Clippers in 1994 but then traded him away to the Denver Nuggets in 1996 for Jalen Rose. The Pacers’ organization quickly learned that they had made a mistake. Halfway through the same season, the organization traded for Jackson again and brought him back to the blue and gold.
Jackson helped guide the Pacers to their only ever NBA Finals appearance during the 1999-00 season. He was also the 1997 Assists leader. During his six seasons with the Pacers, he averaged 10.2 points per game and 9.8 assists per game (Per 36).
Jackson is third all-time in assists (3294) for the Pacers and number one in all-time assist percentage (42.5). The only unfortunate part of Jackson’s tenure in Indiana is that it was not longer.
