Shooting guard: Reggie Miller

There has never been a greater Pacers’ player than the legendary Reggie Miller. He spent all of his 18 seasons with Indiana. Miller is beloved in Indiana and rightfully so. He was drafted by the Pacers in 1987 with the 11th overall pick. Fans at the time would have preferred the Pacers drafted Indiana native Steve Alford, but they were quickly proven they were wrong.

Reggie Miller is known as one of the best 3-point shooters to ever play the game and held the record for most all-time 3-pointers (2,560) until Ray Allen broke it. He is also remembered as one of the best clutch 3-point shooters of all time, specifically against the New York Knicks.

Miller broke the hearts of Knicks’ fans on more than one occasion. So much so that ESPN Films did a 30 for 30 documentary about it called “Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the New York Knicks.” Whether it was scoring eight points in 8.9 seconds, scoring 25 points in the fourth quarter, or pushing off of my Michael Jordan for a game-winner against the Chicago Bulls, he was always coming in clutch for Indiana.

Among his accolades, he was a five-time All-Star, three-time Third-Team All-NBA, a member of the 50-40-90 club, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and an inductee to The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He averaged 18.2 points per game and shot 39.5 percent from beyond the arc during his career.

His number, 31, was retired by the Pacers’ organization. If you put all of the facts together you can easily see that there never has been a better shooting guard, nor player, to don the blue and gold.

Honorable mention: No one is close to Reggie Miller.
