Ranking the top duos from the 2019-20 NBA season

Like many other fans, we’re still very much holding out hope that the NBA will be able to resume and finish the 2019-20 season at some point this summer. However, in the event that it can’t, there is still much that we can look back and dissect from the regular season that was.

While it will be difficult to “crown a champion” without having played the playoffs this season, there is still plenty that we can take away from the 60-plus games that many teams around the NBA did manage to play.

Looking back over that stretch, we decided to rank the top duos from the 2019-20 NBA season. Some criteria that were taken into consideration when creating these lists were total overall impact on teams, overall team success, individual production, and team rapport with both players on the floor.

We begin with an honorable mention, a likely grouping that will almost certainly be included in the top 10 next season.

Honorable mention: Brandon Ingram/Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans

Combined stats: 48 points, 14 rebounds, six assists

The only reason why the duo of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson is considered an honorable mention and not in the top 13 is because of the small sample size in which they’ve played together. Even in just the over 300 minutes played together this season, Ingram and Zion were massively impressive.

It’s a shame that this season was cut short because we never really got to see the full Zion experience during his rookie season. Nevertheless, the New Orleans Pelicans are in good hands moving forward.
