NBA: Ranking the top duos from the 2019-20 season
5. Ben Simmons/Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
Combined stats: 40 points, 20 rebounds, 11 assists
As one of the most polarizing duos on this list, many might not agree with having Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid at the No. 5 spot. Nevertheless, despite the Philadelphia 76ers‘ lack of regular-season success during the 2019-20 NBA season, you can’t argue with the sheer talent and potential that Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons both carry when they’re healthy and on the floor at the same time.
Simmons might not have a 3-point shot in his repertoire but he’s still one of the most dangerous players on the offensive side of the floor. When he’s aggressive and attacking the basket, there’s really no stopping him with his size and natural talent. The same could be said about Embiid, who has shown the ability to score from anywhere on the floor – from the paint to all the way out on the 3-point line.
Embiid might be the most physically dominating big man in the NBA since Shaquille O’Neal. The only thing that has somewhat prevented Embiid to evolve into one of the league’s best players is the injury bug.
There might be some real problems with the Sixers’ roster and locker room but when that’s blocked out and when these two are on the same page, this is one of the most dangerous duos in league history.
