The championship window for this core is closing

Let’s be frank here, there’s a better chance that the Warriors’ core is closer to the end of its prime than it is to the beginning of it. Stephen Curry is 32, Klay Thompson is 30, and Draymond Green is 30 as well. Klay is coming off a torn ACL injury, Curry has battled multiple injuries throughout his career, and Draymond is coming off arguably his worst statical season since his rookie season.

Saying that whoever the Warriors pick in the draft won’t be asked to carry much of the load is foolish. In fact, whoever the Warriors draft will likely be asked to play a key role for the team. If not start, they’d likely expected to be a key cog off the bench.

If the Warriors could add a more established star, or even a more seasoned super-role player, than a rookie, then you’d certainly like their chances more in the daunting Western Conference. If Golden State wants to win another championship with this core, I’m not sure if they have time to wait around for a draft pick to develop.
