2. Chicago Bulls: Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
Without getting cute, the Bulls head to turn in their card with Anthony Edwards as their selection. Chicago would be taking the best player available and perhaps a player that many believe to be the best player in this draft. Even though the Bulls don’t have a huge need in the backcourt, adding a 6-foot-5 guard that has shown the ability to be a prolific scorer is never a bad idea.
Edwards would come in and do exactly what the Bulls ask him to. Plus, it would allow the team to move on from Kris Dunn, who has been quite polarizing during his time with the Bulls. Edwards would solidify their backcourt and give them a depth that not many other teams in the league have at the guard position.
The hope is that Edwards would grow alongside the team’s other young players – Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., and Coby White. If so, Chicago could look back at their last few drafts as the start of something special.
The development process, however, can’t be overlooked. Chicago doesn’t have the luxury of skipping any of those steps.
