3. New York Knicks: James Wiseman, C, Memphis
Ideally, this would be the place where the Knicks could take their next great point guard. But with LaMelo Ball already off the board, it leaves them in a place where they should just probably take the best talent still on the board. James Wiseman is the pick here for the Knicks. Before you make the jokes about the team adding another frontcourt player, let’s hear the analysis.
First of all, the sky is the limit for Wiseman. And we only got to see a small sample size of him in college – which could be a good or bad thing. Nevertheless, in his short stint with the Memphis Tigers, he was extremely impressive.
In three games, Wiseman averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. He shot 77 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line. His true value will come in whether or not he’ll be able to stretch the defense.
The raw talent is undeniable, however. If Wiseman can develop any sort of consistent jumper, the Knicks could come away with one of the true superstars from this draft. Snagging James Wiseman at No. 3 comes with great value.
