7. Atlanta Hawks: Cole Anthony, G, North Carolina
Cole Anthony may be one of the biggest names in the 2020 NBA Draft class, but there’s no question that he’s also one of the biggest unknowns in this draft. As a highly touted high school prospect, Anthony was a bit of a disappointment during his freshman season at North Carolina. Without a traditional draft process, it will be difficult for Anthony to rise up draft boards.
However, at No. 6 the Atlanta Hawks could look to pair Anthony with Trae Young. They would help take the pressure off each other and would be one of the most interesting backcourt pairings in the NBA. During his freshman season at North Carolina, Anthony averaged 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists on 38 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range.
The real concern for Anthony is his shooting consistency. If he could get that in line, there’s a good chance that landing him at No. 7 will be a huge steal. Anthony is one of the most talented guards in the draft. He is just coming off an up-and-down collegiate season. If any team is willing to look beyond that, they may have found their guy.
