The NBA and its players continue to fight the good fight amid the pandemic. This past week Sixers star Joel Embiid did yet another cool thing.
NBA players do not need to step on the hardwood to create amazing highlights. Philadelphia 76ers All-Star center Joel Embiid has now put the franchise back on stable ground twice in his still early career.
First, he revived the organization after Sam Hinkie’s process, transforming Philly into a perennial playoff team. His latest accomplishment is the biggest of them all. The 26-year-old has partnered with Penn Medicine to fund antibody testing for health care workers in the Philadelphia area.
This comes in the wake of Embiid advocating for Sixers ownership to revoke their plan to cut team employee’s salaries by 20 percent. During times of crisis, the world needs more people like Embiid, because his light is still shining bright during the current dark storm.
Bravo Embiid
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has partnered with Sixers owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer to establish a funding campaign for COVID-19 antibody testing for frontline healthcare workers through Penn Medicine, he told ESPN on Friday.

Fun question alert
Rather than naming a player who you thought would make it but didn’t, name a player who you were sure would be an MVP and never really surpassed All-Star level.

Something to keep in mind
The Chinese Government issued a new order today restricting resumption of team sports, a heavy blow for pro basketball to return there soon as was planned. China's attempt to restart sports are being watched closely by leagues across the world. Huge issue is asymptomatic carriers

Giannis doesn’t have access to a court
Asked on the Bucks conference call if players have access to any hoops. Giannis and Khris Middleton said they don't have hoops at home or any real access right now. Khris said he could maybe go to a neighbor's house to shoot outside, but he's mostly working out/dribbling at home.

Mine was 1998. I was an 8-year old in the backseat of the car. my mom handed me the sports section of the newspaper, as she always did when she grabbed the paper. I unfolded the paper and saw that Michael Jordan had retired.
Hey look, a basketball highlight!

Hmm, this sounds very familiar…
Jordan left and the next season the Bulls won two fewer games, had three All-Stars, an MVP candidate and went to Game 7 of the eastern conference semi-finals. It happened, the Bulls were damn good even without Michael. You can't lie about it for weirdo fan reasons.

Super Cheryl
My wife of nearly 38 years—Cheryl Ann— has incredible sewing skills. Has machines and computer programs I don’t understand. Makes lots of adorable outfits for the grandkids. But this is her finest work yet. Her first batch of medical masks with many many many more to come pic.twitter.com/sigknxj7aZ
— Ernie Johnson (@TurnerSportsEJ) April 1, 2020
In this column we end it on a high note, it is rare for that post to not come from a player or team account. With that said, what beloved Turner Sports host of NBA on TNT Ernie Johnson shared with his Twitter timeline fit the bill perfectly. Johnson gushed over the 22 face masks his wife Cheryl Ann handmade.
To that end, I’ll leave you with this; if you are bored in the house or in the house bored. Just stop right now. Be like Cheryl and make some masks. Do not use the excuse “oh I don’t know how to sew” there has never been a better reason or time to learn!
