Taking a look at the most promising first-year players from the 2019-20 NBA season

With a lot of uncertainly surrounding whether the NBA season will resume or not because of COVID-19, there are numerous takeaways from the campaign so far.

Many rookies made their presence known this season, from Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant to Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn. With an unknown timetable for the return of basketball, it’s a good time to evaluate the performances of certain players. Although numerous rookies from the 2019 draft class showed promise, this list is based on offensive and defensive output and how these first-year players performed this season.

Despite many names not making the top five, the 2019 class has a very bright future, with the likes of Darius Garland, Jarrett Culver, RJ Barrett, and Jaxson Hayes all flashing serious potential in 2019-20.
