NBA Rumors: With the expectation that DeMar DeRozan won’t be on the San Antonio Spurs next season, we explore three potential landing spots
The San Antonio Spurs will likely be one of the busiest teams this offseason, and it’s highly unlikely that their roster will look all too similar as it does right now. Specifically, there’s a good chance that DeMar DeRozan, whether he opts out and leaves in free agency or helps to facilitate a trade with the Spurs, will not be a part of this team next season.
One way or another, DeRozan has likely played his last season with the Spurs.
According to CNBC reporter Jabari Young, DeRozan is not happy with his current situation in San Antonio. So much so that he was somewhat shopped at the NBA Trade Deadline. At the very least, the Spurs were not hanging up calls in reference to a possible DeRozan trade.
Ultimately, San Antonio elected to stand pat at the trade deadline but there’s a good chance that they ramp up trade talks in the offseason should DeRozan opt in to the final year of his contract. DeRozan has a $27.7 million player option for the 2020-21 season.
Assuming that the Spurs will want to shake up their roster this summer, we explore three potential landing spots for DeMar DeRozan. One way or another, he’s likely going to be on a new team next season.
