Miami Heat
It’s not strange to see the Miami Heat on this list either. Pat Riley and the Heat have notoriously targeted disgruntled stars time and time again. Whether they eventually land them or not is an entirely different question and conversation. Nevertheless, if DeRozan hits the trade block, there’s no question that the Heat will be, at the very least, interested.
I’d have to imagine that the Heat would be willing to take a chance at a one-year rental with DeRozan; Miami wants to keep their 2021 cap space intact to make a run at Giannis Antetokounmpo (assuming he doesn’t sign an extension before then). There are real questions about the fit of DeRozan and Jimmy Butler together, but Riley’s philosophy has always been to get the stars and then figure out the rest later.
Miami could emerge as a real contender with DeRozan and would be one of the most intriguing teams heading into 2020-21 should they land him.
