1. Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
I consider this draft class to be rather weak in terms of superstar talent, but Anthony Edwards is probably the prospect that could be the most rewarding if he fulfills his potential. He has a very solid frame at 6-foot-5 and 225 lbs. His size and athleticism have helped him become a dangerous slashing guard but my concern for him is his outside shooting and shot selection.
Edwards must improve his perimeter efficiency if he is to become the elite scoring threat that I believe he would be should he reach his ceiling.
2. LaMelo Ball, G, Illawarra
The first time I watched LaMelo Ball was at the Hoop Hall Classic in 2016. He was the freshman sensation on a powerhouse Chino Hills team that included all three Ball brothers in their starting lineup. The thing that stuck out the most to me was his comfort and confidence passing the ball.
Four years later, that is what makes him an elite prospect as he enters the NBA. Ball has a gift as a playmaker that strikes a chord with me personally. I love guys that can create and pass in that effortless-looking way. Ball’s playmaking alone makes him valuable to any team, but he must improve his shooting selection and efficiency to become the star ball handler that I thought he had the potential to become in high school.
