Jerry Krause cut short a dynasty

Imagine this, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are fresh off winning back-to-back NBA titles. Then, all of a sudden, the Cavs general manager says that the upcoming season would be the cores last year together. Almost immediately, said general manager would lose his job.

The fact that Krause basically said that the 1997-98 season would be the last year that the Michael Jordan Bulls would be together was absolutely gutting. It made even less sense after the Bulls would go on to win the 1998 NBA Finals.

This is not to say that the Bulls would’ve kept winning, but who knows? As Jordan said in the documentary, every champion deserves to defend what’s theirs. And at that point, Jordan and the Bulls ran the NBA. They had won three-straight championships and six in the last eight years.

Jerry Krause cut short a dynasty. It’s a shame.
