Exploring four potential stars that the New York Knicks could realistically target during the offseason.

The New York Knicks might be on the verge of hiring another head coach and knee-deep in a full rebuild, but earlier this week it was reported that they feel in a position to trade for an established star (whenever the opportunity would present itself).

Equipped with seven first-round picks over the next four years, the Knicks feel like they have the means to pounce on a disgruntled star. Even though they’re projected to pick in the top 10 again in the 2020 NBA Draft, the hope is that this franchise is able to make a return to prominence – or at the very least, the playoffs – sooner rather than later.

If the Knicks feel they’re prepared to trade for a star, would it really be all that surprising for them to attempt to acquire one this offseason? If the Knicks have a plan to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo and other big-name free agents during the summer of 2021, they’re going to need an already established star on their roster to become a possible destination.

Adding a star this summer could be a key to that (along with the continued development of RJ Barrett and whoever they take in the 2020 NBA Draft). Assuming that they’re going to navigate through the trade waters this offseason, here are four players that the team could realistically target.
